Open Source Licenses
Last updated: October 2026
Flomotion builds on open source software. This page lists the parts that end up in what you build or download, with their licenses and where to get their source code.
1. Firmware builds
When you build a codebase, Flomotion compiles your sketch on our servers with the tools below. The firmware you get back contains your code linked with the Arduino core and the libraries you use. Those parts stay under their own licenses: for the LGPL parts you may replace them with your own modified copies and rebuild, using your sketch and the public source linked here.
- Arduino AVR core (Uno, Nano, Mega): GNU LGPL 2.1. Source
- Arduino core for the ESP32: GNU LGPL 2.1 or later. Source
- ESP-IDF (ESP32 framework, bootloader and libraries): Apache License 2.0, with some components under their own permissive licenses. Source
- Arduino-Pico core (Raspberry Pi Pico), including its Servo library: GNU LGPL 2.1 or later. Source
- Raspberry Pi Pico SDK (RP2040 hardware libraries and second-stage bootloader): BSD 3-Clause, Copyright (c) 2020 Raspberry Pi (Trading) Ltd. Source
- Servo library: GNU LGPL 2.1 or later. Source
- ESP32Servo library: GNU LGPL 2.1 or later. Source
- GCC toolchains (avr-gcc, Xtensa, RISC-V and ARM gcc): GNU GPL 3 with the GCC Runtime Library Exception, which leaves the firmware it compiles free of GPL terms. Source
- Arduino CLI, which runs the build: GNU GPL 3. It runs on our servers and is not part of your firmware. Source
Libraries you add to a codebase yourself come with their own licenses; check each one before you share firmware built with it.
